Wordpress Setting Permalink
- Permalinks are the permanent URLs to our individual pages and blog posts, as well as our category and tag archives.
- A permalink is the web address used to link to our content. The URL to each post should be permanent, and never change, hence the name permalink.
- The Settings Permalinks Screen allows you to choose our default permalink structure. You can choose from common settings or create custom URL structures.
- Permalink is a permanent link to a particular blog post or category.
- It allows setting the default permalink structure.

- Click on Settings->Permalink option in Wordpress. Next to this ,the Permalink Setting Page is displayed as shown below.

Common Settings
- Here we can check any of the radio buttons to choose our permalink structure for our blogs.

- Plain : It sets the default URL structure in Wordpress.
- Day and name : It sets URL structure according to the date and name in our posts.
- Month and name : Here month and your name is the URL structure in our post.
- Numeric: It sets numbers in the URL structure in our post.
- Post name: It sets post name in the URL structure in our post.
- Custom Structure: Here we can set the URL structure of our choice by writing the desired name in the given text box.
Optional
- We can add custom structure for main category or tags URL. If our text box is empty then defaults settings would be used.
- Here we have two options.

- Category Base: Add custom prefix for our category URL.
- Tag Base: Add custom prefix to our Tags URL.
- Save Changes : Click the Save Changes button to ensure any changes we have made to our Settings which will be saved to our database.
