[Fix]-Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Wikitechy | 1002 Views | asp.net | 28 May 2016

Scenario:

With .NET framework 2.0, VS 2005 and Windows Server 2003, the ASP.NET website works well locally but deployed either using a Web Deployment Project or even the simple Publish Web Site command error occurs as follows.

Error:

ASPNETCOMPILER, Line 1, Character 1, which simply says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Fix 1:

Check the BIN folder the already compiled files from there.

Fix 2:

Disable the antivirus in your machine to fix the issue.

Fix 3:

Go to the folder containing the ASP.NET website. Right-click on the folder, choose properties and in the general tab, click Advanced and under the Compress or Encrypt attributes section.

Ensure that the option Compress contents to save disk space is unchecked. If the option is active, uncheck it and apply the same for all subfolders of the project.
