The feature to check how much battery is left on your phone is by looking at the battery percentage on the status bar. This feature is accessible in custom ROM and other custom UI by smart phone makers like Samsung and HTC. We can even download apps to display widget, icon or notification about battery percentage however people may ask why Google never took initiative to give this little feature on stock android.
Android 4.4 Kitkat brought numerous changes within android making it clean and simple, including this hidden battery percentage which they might eventually include into their upcoming android updates.
The battery percentage is covered up within battery bar in status bar and has the same font color as that of battery indicator. That’s is the reason you won’t see the battery percentage unless it has 50%.
